Nature is an inspiring and powerful thing, especially in person. Before you go, however, check out the following information on the waterfalls as well as some tips to ensure you have a safe trip.

The Waterfalls
There are dozens of waterfalls that you’ll come across on your trip to the Columbia River Gorge, just some of which include Latourell Falls, Horsetail Falls, Starvation Creek Falls, Eightmile Creek Falls, Mosier Creek Falls, Upper McCord Creek Falls, and Punchbowl Falls. Hiking to the Falls
If you’re planning on hiking to the waterfalls in Columbia River Gorge, it’s essential that you’re prepared to do so. You should be prepared for a whole variety of weather conditions which means having extra clothing on hand that includes a poncho and enough pieces to keep you warm. It’s also vital that you take enough food, water, and first aid supplies as well as any other supplies, such as a flashlight, that you’ll need for safety and convenience purposes. Not only should you be extremely cautious while hiking on the trails, but you should also make sure not to take unnecessary risks at any point whether it’s by the edge of a cliff, by the waterfalls, or somewhere in between.

Stay Safe While Hiking
If you hike along with another person, make sure not to go off on your own and get separated. Always stay together. Additionally, whether you’re going it alone or with someone else, make sure that there are at least a couple of people who know what your itinerary is. As tempting as it may be to stray from that plan, stick to it. If an emergency should arise, people will need to know where to find you.

With multiple stunning waterfalls, you’re certainly not short of options for ones to visit, but make sure you stay safe in the process. Even the most experienced hikers still need to take precautions. Carry a guidebook with you just in case of lack of signs, and don’t take any chances. For example, it may be tempting to take a risk for a great photo, but it’s not worth your life (or injury) if something were to happen. Additionally, carry portable cell chargers with you as a precaution. Before you leave, it’s also best to make sure there are no warnings, alerts, or advisories out in the area you’re planning to travel to.
