Chances are you’ve heard of the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but how much do you really know about it? If you’ve been intrigued about it for awhile and have been considering a visit, there’s no better time than now to find out what they’re all about and start planning your trip. Exhibitions
There are always several interesting exhibitions happening at the Carnegie Museum of Art. For example, until July 17 in the lobby gallery, you can find the “Teenie Harris Photographs: Great Performances Offstage” exhibit and until October 2 in the Charity Randall Gallery is the “Hot Metal Modern: Design in Pittsburgh and Beyond” exhibit. Third Thursdays
Every third Thursday of each month is when the Carnegie Museum of Art offers a late-night cafe menu and music where they stay open late and welcome in the community for a gathering of sorts. The next Third Thursdays event on the calendar is on May 19 from 8pm to 11pm where a concert will take place in the courtyard. Performing will be The Garment District, Mars Jackson, and Meeting of Important People. While CMP members pay $8 for admission, students pay $5. General admission is $10.

The Basics
While the Carnegie Museum of Art is closed on Tuesdays, they’re open 10am to 5pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday they’re open 10am to 8pm, and Sunday they’re open from noon to 5pm. They are closed on certain holidays such as New Year’s Day and Christmas Day. Admission is $19.95 for adults, $14.95 for those 65+, and $11.95 for students who show ID and for children from ages 3 to 18. Members, as well as children who are younger than three, get in for free. If you arrive after 3pm during the week, the regular admission price gets cut in half. There are also discounts available to others, such as active military personnel, who show ID.

Event Spaces
If you’re interested in hosting an event at the Carnegie Museum of Art, there certainly is plenty of space for you to do so. For example, the Carnegie Museum of Art Theater can accommodate 200, the Hillman Hall and Lobby can fit 150 for cocktails, and the Scaife Foyer can accommodate 400 for cocktails. With the most space is the Carnegie Music Hall which can accommodate 1,950 guests. The spaces are lovely and there’s a special events staff that can help you ensure that everything runs smoothly.

If you’re interested in visiting the Carnegie Museum of Art, your best bet is to call ahead of your visit just to confirm that they’ll be open on the day you’re planning on making the trip. This is especially the case if there’s inclement weather. It’s also a perfect opportunity to ask any questions should you have any.
