Tips for Visiting Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint in Oregon
Located in Yamhill County in Oregon, Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint is a gorgeous state park that’s set on top of Bald Peak which has an elevation of more than 1,600-feet. The state park itself is 26.44-acres, and to say that the views are breathtaking would be an understatement. Ready to explore it for yourself? The following are just some of the things to know before you go.
Bring Some Food
There are picnic tables set up in the Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint, so feel free to bring some food and have a nice meal. It’s the perfect opportunity to slow down a bit from everyday life, enjoy the scenery, and have some great conversation with your friends or family or even to spend some time by yourself.
Leave the Area As You Found It
Whether you’re going to the Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint for a walk, a meal, or just to sit and take a breather for awhile, make sure to leave the area as you found it. This means not leaving any tissues on the ground, food wrappers on the tables, or anything else that could create a mess.
Considering the elevation, it can be colder in Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint than one might anticipate, so you’re going to want to dress appropriately. Even if it seems like it’s warm enough when you leave your home, bring a jacket or sweatshirt with you anyway just in case.
Don’t Take Unnecessary Risks
We get that the views are gorgeous, but you don’t want to get too close to the edge or another unsafe area and put yourself at risk because you’re trying to get a better view or take some pictures. Be aware of your surroundings and take pictures from a safe distance. As previously stated, the park isn’t big, but just remember that you’re still on top of a peak.
There’s no drinking water available at the park, so bring some with you even if you think you’re not going to need it. Whether you get your hands dirty and want to wash them off or you just need a drink, at least you’ll have the water on hand.
Check the Weather Before You Leave
You don’t want to go all the way there expecting to go for a walk or that there will be sunny weather and be disappointed because it starts to rain or it’s too cold to enjoy staying outdoors. Keep in mind to check the weather for the Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint as opposed to the town since the park is at a higher elevation.
Even though the park is small, you still want to make sure you’re safe, especially considering the wooded areas, so make sure to let someone know that you’re going to the Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint. You may feel that it’s silly, but you can never be too careful. Last but not least, enjoy your visit!
