Vacation Skin Care: Summer Edition

Woman enjoying her vacation

When you go on vacation in the summer, chances are you take a break from your day-to-day responsibilities, but what about from your skin care routine? Wherever you go, it’s still important to make sure you properly take care of your skin. If you need some advice for how to do that while still thoroughly enjoying your summer vacation, the following tips can help get you started.

Make Sure You’re Following Flight Rules
As much as you may want to take all of your skincare items with you that are part of your daily regimen, you may have a problem if you’re flying. The 3-1-1 rule for packing a carry-on means that you can carry containers that are 3.4-ounces or less, but they have to fit in a quart-sized clear, plastic bag that seals, and you can have only one of these bags per passenger. If containers are larger than 3.4-ounces, they must be in a checked bag. Check out the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) site here for more information.

Stick to Your Skincare Routine
It may be tempting to forgo your usual skincare routine while you’re on vacation, but your skin might not appreciate it too much. For example, you shouldn’t skip your moisturizer or sunscreen, it’s best that you still cleanse your face, and it’s a must to take your makeup off at the end of the day regardless of how much you don’t want to.

Prepare For a Change in Climate
Depending on when and where you’re going on vacation, you might have to change up your skincare products. For example, if you live in a cold environment and you’re using a cream moisturizer, but you’re traveling to vacation in a tropical locale, that type of moisturizer is going to feel way too heavy. Don’t pack skincare products for how it is where you live, but instead, pack for how it’s going to be where you’re going.

Don’t Forget the Sunscreen
Wherever you go, you’re going to need to make sure you have sunscreen with you. Depending on where you’re traveling to, rather than pack sunscreen in your suitcase, you might want to only pack a small tube in your carry-on and purchase more when you get to your destination so it’s less you have to carry and worry about getting all over your items.

Take Special Care of the Area Around Your Eyes
You may not be able to stick to your normal sleep schedule while you’re on vacation, and it could show all over your face in the form of puffiness and dark circles under your eyes. Taking your favorite eye pads could be quite useful. Not only can they help with refreshing the area under the eyes, but they also travel well.

Don’t Stray Too Far From Your Diet
On vacation, many of us don’t eat as well as we should. We may eat more fried food or sweets than what we would normally eat when we’re home, but that could wreak havoc on the skin. This isn’t to say you can’t have some treats, but try to stick as close to your regular healthy diet as possible.

Now that you have all of the aforementioned information about summer vacation skincare, it’s time to pack your bags and get ready to have a fantastic time on your trip!
