Visiting Mount Washington in Pittsburgh

Take in the Views
We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the views of Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas that you can experience from Mount Washington from one of the Grandview Avenue observation decks. It’s also here in Pittsburgh that you’ll find two inclines – the Duquesne Incline and the Monongahela Incline – that can provide you with breathtaking views. The Monongahela Incline was built in 1870 and the Duquesne Incline was built in 1877. If you love taking photos, whether professionally or as a hobby, you’ll experience plenty of picturesque moments during your trip, so make sure you have a camera handy.

Go to the Restaurants
Sure the views are wonderful, but you also want to make sure to check out what else the area has to offer as well, such as some fantastic restaurants. For example, you can stop at Micro Diner, Kavsar Restaurant, Grandview Bakery, Packs & Dogs, Monterey Bay Fish Grotto, and Shiloh Grill. Whether you want a snack that’s a little sweet or savory, you could use a cocktail after a long week, or you’re looking for a delicious meal, you’ll have plenty of places to check out that are casual, upscale, or fall somewhere in between. Make sure before you head over to a restaurant that you call to check that they’ll be open when you want to go and to see if you should make a reservation.

Visit Emerald View Park
Maybe you want to work up an appetite or you want to burn off the calories from a delicious meal, but heading to the 257-acre Emerald View Park could be an ideal place to do either. In addition to Mount Washington, it also surrounds Allentown and Duquesne Heights. There are several miles of trails that you can walk, and there’s even a basketball court, playground, and baseball field. While you’re in Emerald View Park, don’t forget to keep an eye out for one of the several pieces of art that are throughout. Bring your walking shoes, you’re going to have a great time exploring!
