Christmas in Canada

The Polar Express™ Train Ride
So it’s not in Calgary, but it isn’t far from and it’s sure to be quite a Christmas experience. Just imagine the look on your child’s face after they take The Polar Express™ Train Ride to see Santa. A reading of the book will be done, then once guests step off the very special train, they’ll not only get to meet Santa but also get a sleigh bell. Part of the ride includes receiving a Polar Express™ mug that’s filled with hot chocolate, but the experience would not be complete without a cookie. Ticket prices start at $57 but if you’re planning on attending on Christmas Eve, note that the costs go up by $5.

ZOOLIGHTS at the Calgary Zoo
Running until January 8 is the ZOOLIGHTS event at the Calgary Zoo, and your small lights display this is not. There are over 200 displays and more than 1.5 million lights. Up for some ice skating? You can glide across the ice while you’re there thanks to the free ice skate rentals. There are also numerous activities for those of all ages, hot chocolate, and fire pits where you can warm up a bit. Take note that you won’t be able to see the animals during ZOOLIGHTS. Also, the event is closed on Christmas Day, but otherwise it takes place daily from 6pm to 9pm. Admission starts at $11.99, and parking is $7. Make sure to enter through the North Gate. Since the event runs into January, even if you don’t have time to visit before Christmas, you can extend the holiday spirit into the new year.

Because of how busy the aforementioned and other Christmas events in and around Calgary, Canada can get, it’s best if you get your tickets online in advance of when you would like to go. This ensures that you’ll be able to go when you want and won’t have to battle the crowds. You’ll also want to make sure to review on what days and times the events take place as well as what you should do in the case of inclement weather. Other than that, have a fantastic time and Merry Christmas!
