One Day Travel Checklist

travel items

One would think that going on a day trip wouldn’t require much in regards to packing, but it can actually be easy to forget some things or to just purposely leave some things behind thinking you won’t need them. The best thing that you can do to ensure you don’t forget anything is to create a checklist. Not sure what to pack? The following are just some of the items you’ll want to make sure to bring.

Cell Phone Charger
There are many who feel that – if they’re just going away for the day – bringing a charger isn’t necessary, but the thing is that it very well may be especially if an emergency comes up and you’re stuck somewhere. Even if you’re traveling for a day, bring your wall charger, a car charger, and a portable external battery. This ensures that, wherever you are, you have the ability to charge your phone.

Toiletries and First Aid Kits
Bringing a toiletries kit and a first aid kit may seem pointless when you’re only taking a day trip, but they could certainly come in handy, especially if you end up staying somewhere overnight. In the toiletries kit, some items you’ll want to include are deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, floss, tweezers, nail clippers, soap, toothbrush, sunscreen, tissues, and toothpaste. In the first aid kit, you could include items such as band-aids, gauze, first-aid ointment, small peroxide, and medical bandages and tape.

Prescriptions
Even if you already took your medicine for the day, it’s best if you take your prescriptions along with you just in case. This includes those you use only in an emergency. Don’t forget to bring along a note from your doctor that states that you’re allowed to have the medication with you. You should also consider bringing a pain reliever.

Extra Clothing
A day trip, but multiple outfits? Yes! If a shirt gets dirty, you stay somewhere overnight, your shoes get soaked, you decide to do a different plan and go somewhere different (such as for a hike rather than a formal dinner), you have something else to change into rather than having to search out a store and purchase something different. Bring some different types of clothing such as active-wear, jeans, socks, an extra pair of shoes, and a few tops. Depending on where you’re going and what your plans are, you may also want to bring a formal outfit and/or a bathing suit.

Other items you may want to bring along for your day trip include contacts and solution, a book, umbrella, snacks, water, fully-stocked roadside emergency kit, and some spare cash. An important thing to keep in mind is not to get too comfortable thinking it’s going to be a simple trip back and forth. Things happen like a flat tire, travel delays, and bad weather, and it’s important to make sure you’re prepared just in case. It may seem like you’re going overboard, but you’ll feel much better if you find you need the items and you have them.
