New Jersey: Garden State Fall Festivals
Fall isn’t just a season, it’s a celebration, and New Jersey is one state that does it well. All throughout fall you’ll find plenty of festivals going on in the Garden State that can help you get into the spirit of the season. It’s at one of these festivals that you may be able to find pumpkins, delicious food, lively music, and much more. Before we know it, the freezing temperatures will make their way over to New Jersey, but before that happens, consider heading outdoors for a little fall fun at one of the following festivals.
South Jersey Pumpkin Show Festival
For three days – October 7, 8, and 9 – the 13th annual South Jersey Pumpkin Show Festival will take place at the Salem County Fairgrounds in Woodstown. Friday it takes place from 5pm to 9pm, on Saturday from 10am to 8pm, and on Sunday from 10am to 5pm. It’s here that you’ll find a haunted barn, crafts, wine sampling, pony rides, amusement rides, a dog parade, a plethora of food, and pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins. It’s certainly a fall event in New Jersey that you don’t want to miss.
Oktoberfest 2016
Although Oktoberfest takes place in Germany in September, in New Jersey, you’ll find many Oktoberfest festivals happening in October, including Oktoberfest 2016 at Forest Lodge in Warren. Set to take place on October 8 from 11am to 5pm with a rain date of the 9th, the festival will feature live music, carnival booths, vendors, and amusement rides. There will also be plenty of delicious German (and American) food ranging from German Potato Salad and Bratwurst to cake and fried chicken. Admission is $7 per adult and this family-friendly event is also granting free admission to kids who are under 10.
Sussex County Harvest, Honey & Garlic Festival
On October 8 from 10am to 4pm is the Sussex County Harvest, Honey & Garlic Festival in Augusta at the Sussex County Fairgrounds where you can celebrate the Garden States’s bounty of fantastic fruits and vegetables and, as you’ve probably guessed from the name, many honey and garlic products. You can also pick up some fresh flowers and incredible wine. There are plenty of activities to do and information to learn at this free event. Feel free to bring the kids because this New Jersey festival is family-friendly.
Harvest Food Truck & Wine Festival
The Harvest Food Truck & Wine Festival is set to take place on October 22 and 23 from 12pm to 5pm at Alba Vineyard & Winery in Milford. In addition, to live music, there will also be food trucks where you can pick up some mouth-watering eats. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the wine tastings which are only available to those who are 21+ and cost $10 per person in addition to the original admission cost. Children who are 12 and under get in for free, it’s $5 for those who are 13 to 20, and those who are 21+ pay $10. Enjoying great food and wine in the crisp, cool New Jersey air isn’t a bad way to spend a day!
The aforementioned fall festivals in New Jersey are just the start of what the Garden State has to offer, so make sure to get out there and enjoy the lovely changing colors of the season while they last!
