Want beer in Portland? You certainly aren’t short of options for where you can go, but maybe that’s part of the problem. Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House
Let’s talk about Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House and its 26 taps. They’re clearly doing something right since they – a brewery that’s family-owned and employee-owned – have been in business since 1988. They strive to incorporate local ingredients into their dishes, and looking at the menu, they’re certainly not short of delicious options. Just some of the options they have on the menu include Sweet Fire Cheese, House Made Sausage, Brewery Pretzel, an Elk Burger, a Dungeness Crab Roll, and the Black Butte Porter Mac and Cheese. Hair of the Dog Brewing Company
Onto the Hair of the Dog Brewing Company on SE Yamhill Street in Portland. They were founded in 1993, they’re family-owned and operated, and they’re also all about local products. You can check out their website to see what they’re currently offering on tap and you can even read the information and stories about the beer. And what about the food? Options include Duck Confit, Chili, Beef Short Ribs, Turkey and Smoked Mozzarella sandwich, and a Smoked Nova Salmon sandwich. They’re open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 am to 10 pm, and on Sunday they’re open 11:30 am to 8 pm.

Breakside Brewery
Last but not least is Breakside Brewery in Portland over on Northeast Dekum Street, not to be confused with their taproom & brewery in Milwaukie, Oregon. This award-winning brewery opened in 2010, and they’re open Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 am to 10 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 am to 11 pm. Want to know what’s on tap before you go? Some of the items on the menu include Curry Fried Chicken, Superfood Salad, Rogue Smokey Blue Waffle Fries, a Smokey Cubano, a Cheeseburger, and a Lambwich.

Sure when you head over to Portland, you’re visiting great breweries, having incredible beer and food, and you have a chance to meet wonderful people, but you’re also helping to support the locals that the breweries support as well, and that is a fantastic thing in and of itself.
