Weekend Destination Tips for Wine Connoisseurs

We can’t blame you if you’re thinking of taking a little wine getaway for a weekend; it’s a wonderful idea. From the wine to the views and everything in between, there’s a lot to see, do, and experience that you may not be able to get local to where you live. You only have a few days to work with, so planning is a must. Without further ado, let’s talk about how you can plan a weekend getaway if you’re a wine connoisseur who desires a fabulous time.

See If You Can Extend Your Weekend
It’s no secret that, as we get older, we may not be able to be as energetic the following day after having some drinks as we were when we were younger, and after a couple days of wine drinking, you might need another day where you can just relax at home on your couch before returning to your regular daily responsibilities. Whether you take a Friday or a Monday off, you have two days to devote to your weekend wine destination and another day left over, which can also be especially helpful in the event of travel delays.

Consider How Far You Can Go
There are several wine areas around the globe that are worth visiting, but depending on where you live and how long you have for your weekend getaway, you’re going to have to determine just how far you can go. Some areas to consider include Burgundy in France, Sonoma County in California, and La Rioja in Spain. Make sure you give yourself enough time to get to and from your destination while also allowing for flexibility in case of travel delays.

Think About Spending the Night
There are quite a few wineries where you won’t just have to visit for the day but you could actually stay there for the weekend. This is a great idea if you’re particularly excited about experiencing one specific winery. Even if you stay at one winery, however, if there are others located nearby, you can still check them out them as well.

Think About Doing A Tour
If you’re headed to a wine region for a weekend getaway, such as Napa Valley, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to take a public or private wine tour. It’s a good option to consider as you’ll be provided with transportation to/from several wineries, get to experience what they have to offer, and it may even work out to be more cost efficient than if you were to tour the wineries on your own. If you opt to do a wine tour, make sure you go with a company that’s reliable.

If you have a particular wine region in mind, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask for advice from your family and friends on social media to find out if anyone can provide you with specific recommendations about where to stay, where to go, and what to do. It could provide you with some valuable information that you may otherwise not have discovered in time for your weekend getaway.
