Fun Ideas For a Mom-cation
You obviously love your children, but once in awhile, you may feel the need to have some time to yourself especially if lately you’ve been feeling like you’re getting overly frustrated and upset over things that normally wouldn’t bother you much. Wanting that time certainly doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you or that you’re being selfish, it simply means that you need some extended time to yourself (as in more than an hour or two) where you can rest, relax, and recharge. Whether you’re planning on going overnight, taking a couple of days, or you’re going for longer, the following are some fun Mom-cation ideas.
Visit Your Best Friend
One-on-one time with your best friend, especially if they live long distance, is one of the best ways to center yourself, have a good time, and go out and do fun activities. Whether you go to visit them, the two of you meet at a halfway point, or you go to a completely different destination, getting together with your best friend is definitely a worthwhile way to spend your mom-cation.
Go See Your Family
Yes, your family loves your kids and would want to see them, too, but there’s nothing wrong with having a little bonding time with your family with just the adults. Depending on the situation it could mean going back to your childhood home or going to a whole new location, but wherever it is, it can be nice to have that time with them.
Visit a Spa
When was the last time you had uninterrupted pampering time? Got a long massage, maybe a body wrap, got a manicure and pedicure, got your hair done, etc. Visiting a spa can allow you to have time to get several treatments done where the focus is on you and you alone.
Do Activities That You Love (By Yourself)
Chances are you can name at least a few activities that you love but your child has zero interest in. Maybe it’s going to a fancy restaurant, going to the opera or ballet, going to an art museum, or spending some time on the slopes, but whatever and wherever it is, it can be a good chance for you to go on your own, do the activities you love, and spend some quality time by yourself.
When you return from your mom-cation, make sure to bring a little something back for your kids (and your partner) as a surprise so they know you were thinking of them while you were away even if you called a few times each day.
You’re probably so busy taking care of everyone else on a day-to-day basis and worrying about their needs that it can be easy to forget that you’re important, too. You’re obviously going to worry about your family while you’re away, but it can be nice when your other biggest concern during your trip is where to go for dinner and what time to get out of bed. Having a mom-cation, even if it’s just a couple of days, could do wonders, not just for yourself but for your family as well.
