Photomonth East London International Photography Festival
If you love photography, whether you prefer to be in front or behind the camera or you just appreciate the incredible artwork, then you may want to head over to East London from October 1 to November 30 for the Photomonth East London International Photography Festival. Photomonth for short is essentially a celebration of all things photography and will involve everything from workshops to exhibitions. It’s a great chance to not only support artists but to learn a substantial amount of information in the process whether you’re just starting out with photography or it’s been a passion of yours for quite some time. Interested in going? Let’s discuss some of what you need to know about Photomonth before you book your trip.
Events
Photomonth in East London is already well underway as the opening party took place on September 29, but there are plenty more events that are taking place before the close of the festival. For example, you can attend the Photomonth Photobook Fair on October 29 and 30, the Publishing Photoforum on October 19, the Shutter Hub Talk & Panel Discussion about Jane Bown on October 20, Portfolio Clinic with Alina Kisina on November 19, and the Gallery Crawl on October 30 and November 26. Their Events & Workshops Listings Page contains all the information you need should you want to attend.
When and Where
There are so many different venues around East London that are a part of Photomonth. Just some of the wonderful venues that are participating in the festival in some way include the Bank Space Gallery, Amnesty Human Rights Action Centre, Republic Gallery, Unit G Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery, Mile End Art Pavilion, Idea Store Canary Wharf, Hundred Years Gallery, Clifford-Thames Gallery, and the Clerkenwell Gallery. It’s important to note that each venue has their own set of hours, so before you plan a visit, it would be beneficial to review all the details of the event you’re planning on attending including the dates and times they take place as well as what hours the venues are open.
The Map
There is a handy map on the Photomonth website that details where around East London the venues are that are participating. Whether you’re walking, driving, or getting around some other way, this map can be beneficial if you’re planning on stopping at several of the events and exhibitions and want to see right in front of you how far apart each one is from the next and which ones are located near you. The map is also easy to print for your convenience should you want to take it with you on the go and want to see it a bit larger than what you would view on your phone.
Photomonth in East London is such a fantastic way to celebrate artists, their talent and passion, and the hard work they put in. Don’t hesitate to check out as many events as possible. It’s a great way to get out and support artists and expand your love of art.
