Spend The Day In Central Park
The 1.317-square-mile Central Park located right in New York City has enough wonderful features and things to do that it’s easy to spend the day there without experiencing a second of boredom. The park is family-friendly, great for all ages, and is ideal whether you want to go by yourself, with friends, with family, or on a date. If you’re planning a trip to Central Park in the future, let’s talk about just some of the many activities that you can do during your day.
Have A Picnic
There are plenty of places in and around Central Park where you can grab some delicious eats, so what better way to relax and people watch than to sit on the grass or on a bench and dig into some incredible food? During the warmer, sunny days, the lawn tends to get crowded with people, but it’s almost like a large community party. However, you can still grab a spot for a nice, romantic date if you so desire.
Get Some Food
Speaking of great food, there are several spots where you can get something to eat and drink whether you’re looking for a little snack or a full meal. For example, just a couple of the options you have are to head over to one of the concession carts or you can dine at Tavern on the Green.
Ice Skate At Wollman Rink
Maybe it’s your first time on the ice or you’ve been doing it for years, but Wollman Rink in Central Park is the perfect place for you to enjoy a little ice skating. Depending on the weather, they open October 22. Tickets are cash only, and VIP tickets are available. They open at 10am every day, and although they close early on Monday and Tuesday, they’re open late the rest of the week. Prices range depending on whether you’re an adult, youth, or senior, on what days you go, and whether or not you need skate rentals or lock rentals.
Central Park Zoo
The Central Park Zoo features a whole variety of animals including sea lions, penguins, red pandas, snow leopards, and grizzly bears. Located at 64th Street and 5th Avenue, the zoo is open every day of the year. You can grab food while you’re there at the Dancing Crane Café, and while there’s no parking at the zoo itself, there are plenty of ways to get there via public transportation. Because their hours of operation can change, it’s important to check their site for up-to-date information before visiting.
Walking around the park and enjoying the sights and sounds is also another wonderful way to get out into nature and observe the world around you. From Strawberry Fields to the Shakespeare Garden, there are so many additional spots around the park you’ll want to visit and things you’ll want to do. Although Central Park is open every day from 6am to 1am, it is important to be safe at all times but especially when going through the park at night.
