Raise a Glass to Canada: Celebrating Canada 150 from Anywhere in the World

This year marks the 150th anniversary of Confederation in Canada, so it’s time to pay homage to the fabulous country and its rich history. Even if you can’t make it to Canada, there’s no reason you still can’t celebrate! Near or far, the following are just some of the many ways you can participate in Canada 150 and celebrate regardless of where you are in the world.

Take A Trip to Canada
What better way to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation than by actually taking a trip to Canada? Whether you want to partake in an event, spend some time exploring the outdoors, go to different restaurants or stores, or just take a road trip and see where it takes you, there are so many things you can do. Before you go, however, just make sure that you have the proper paperwork on hand so you have no problems getting into the country and back.

Visit the Library and Archives Canada (LAC) page
The LAC is doing something truly wonderful that you can enjoy from anywhere in the world. They’re featuring a project called “#OnThisDay” which depicts various events, facts, and happenings that took place in Canada. Don’t worry if you miss a day! You can go all the way back to January and scroll through each day to read a small paragraph and get linked to additional information. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn more about the country.

Look For Events in Your Area
You don’t have to be located in the country to celebrate Canada 150! See if there are events in your area that are going to be held in honor of the special occasion. If there aren’t, consider hosting your own at a public venue where you can meet others who love the country as much as you do.

Have a Canada Celebration At Home
If you’d rather not attend or host a public event, how about hosting one at home for your family and friends? You could put up decorations, have a feast that features Canadian foods, and watch Canadian movies and TV shows. Have it at home and you can host it at any time you want and have it as many days as you would like.

Check Out Canada Webcams
You might not be able to get to the country, but you could always bring the country to you! There are numerous Canada webcams that you can check out day and night. It’s a chance to get a real-time view of what’s going on in various parts of Canada even if you’re located half a world away.

So what’s one more of the absolute best ways that you can celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada? Get to know the country. Even if you can’t get there, go online and read about it, head to a bookstore and buy a book or go to the library and rent one. It’s a gorgeous country that has a rich and fascinating history, and you’re going to be happy that you took the time to find out all about it.
