Siesta Key For a Day
If you’re lucky enough to spend time in beautiful Siesta Key, even if it’s for a day, you’re going to want to fit in as much as possible in whatever time you have. The little island paradise that’s situated right off the coast of Florida is waiting to show you all that it has to offer. Before you pack your bags and make a run to this fabulous locale, check out just some of the places to visit and things to do.
Restaurants
What’s a day trip to Siesta Key without getting some fantastic food while you’re there? While there are obviously a whole slew of places you can stop at, there are three you just might want to put at the top of your list. Let’s start with the Bonjour French Cafe for breakfast where you can grab options such as the French Toast Croissant, the Lobster Omelette, or the Eggs Benedict. Onto Senior Siesta for lunch where you can dig into dishes such as Ropa Vieja, Paella, and Quinoa Croquetas. Last but not least is The Cottage for dinner and drinks. It’s here that you can get food such as Lobster Bisque, Kabayaki Short Ribs, Tempura Shrimp, Guava Slaw, and Truffle Risotto.
Shopping
Shopping in Siesta Key is obviously a must, so it’s a good thing there are several places where you can stop to get some fabulous finds. Just a few of the options to consider include Beach Bazaar, Califlorida Surf and Skate, and CB’s Saltwater Outfitters. If you’d rather not have to carry all your new-found goodies back home with you, especially if you’re flying, there are two post offices in the area just in case you want to mail the items home and have them waiting for you when you arrive.
Head to the Beach
You can’t visit Siesta Key for a day and not spend time at the beach. Set along the Gulf of Mexico, there’s plenty of white sand to put your feet into. There are three fabulous beaches from which to choose: Siesta Beach, Crescent Beach, and Turtle Beach. In 2011, Siesta Beach landed the number one spot on Dr. Beach’s list of The Best Beaches in America. Considering the warm water, white sands, and turquoise blue water, it’s no surprise that it earned such a prestigious spot.
Getting Around
While you can, of course, use your own car or rent a car to get to and around Siesta Key, public transportation could also be a good option. Check out this page for some great detailed bus transportation information that can easily help you get from one spot to the next with little-to-no trouble.
