A Relaxing Day on the Beach
One of the best parts of summer is going outdoors to have a relaxing day on the beach. There’s nothing like planting yourself in the sand, taking a dip in the water, and forgetting for awhile all the responsibilities that are awaiting you back home. Before you pack your bags and make a run for the sand, let’s talk about some ways to make your day trip to the beach a little more enjoyable and relaxing.
Decide on Boardwalk or No Boardwalk
It can be fun to walk up and down the boardwalk while you listen to the sounds of games and smell the delicious food that’s cooking, but sometimes your day trip to the beach is just about the sand and water. Considering some beaches have boardwalks while others don’t, make sure to decide how important that aspect is to you.
Bring a Cooler With Food and Drinks
Whether you bring a cooler that’s filled with food and drinks from an eatery nearby or you bring them from home, you won’t have to worry when you’re comfortable in the sand and suddenly find yourself hungry and thirsty. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water so you can stay hydrated!
Bring Only the Necessities
There’s nothing relaxing about lugging armfuls of stuff to your spot on the beach. As much as you may want to bring a whole slew of items, really think about if you’re going to want to carry them back and forth or if you’re even going to want to use them.
Bring a Rubber Mallet
How exactly is a rubber mallet relaxing? It could prevent you from having to chase your beach umbrella all across the sand. Use it to hammer in your beach umbrella so it stays securely in place and a gust of wind won’t carry it off.
Bring a Fake Box For Your Valuables
The last thing you want to worry about while you’re at the beach is your items – such as your cell phone or car keys – getting stolen. Bring a box that a thief likely won’t even think to go through. For example, bring an empty cracker box, an empty tampon box, or something else that looks inconspicuous, put a plastic bag inside, then put your valuables in that. Make sure to close the plastic bag so sand or water doesn’t get in, and make sure not to make it obvious that you’re using the box as a hiding spot.
Get There Early
One of the best things about going to the beach is getting the spot that you really want, and one of the easiest ways to do that is to get there early. Going early enough in the day can also give you the option to get home before the hottest hours of the day.
Go During the Week
If you’ve ever gone to the beach on a weekend, you know how crazy it can be trying to deal with crowds. Trying to get a spot, trying to walk through everyone, dealing with loud music and cigarette smoke, and having people run across your blanket aren’t what many would consider relaxing. However, if you go during the week when many people are at work, you increase your chances of having a more serene experience.
Ready for your relaxing day at the beach? It’s time to get planning!
