Chicago: Holiday Events in the Windy City

The holidays are coming, which means that many cities across the globe – including Chicago – are doing their best to bring a touch of the festive spirit to their residents and visitors. There are numerous holiday events that are going to be happening in the Windy City, and the city of over 2 million is already decking the halls and putting up the trees. These events are ideal to attend whether you’re going by yourself, with family or friends, or on a date. Without further ado, let’s discuss just some of the many events that are going to be taking place in Chicago within the next month.

Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light
Set at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, the Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light exhibit features multiple trees that – as you can probably guess from the name – depict wonderful traditions from various cultures all across the world. Before you go, you can read all about each tree on the museum website. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss, and while you’re there you can even take pictures with Santa. The exhibit is included in the cost of museum admission.

ZooLights at the Lincoln Park Zoo
When you go to the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, your focus is probably on seeing the animals, but with the ZooLights event that takes place until January 1, you’re going to be in the midst of a gorgeous display of lights as well. There are also several activities that you can partake in including pictures with Santa, ice sculpture carving, crafts, and more. It does not take place every day, so make sure to check their calendar for more information so you can plan your visit.

Christkindlmarket
Need some wonderful gifts for the holiday season? Consider stopping over at the Christkindlmarket which is open until Christmas Eve so you can stock up on those last minute presents. At the outdoor market, you’ll also find delicious foods and beverages so feel free to get a meal and do a little shopping at the same time. On Friday and Saturday, they’re open 11 am to 9 pm, and from Sunday through Thursday, they’re open 11 am to 8 pm.

With so many holiday events going on in Chicago, leading up to the new year, you’re bound to find at least a few that will bring you plenty of joy. You’ll never be bored or lack an option of some place to go with so many different holiday events to attend! Keep in mind that – due to the popularity of the events – it’s best if you get your tickets ahead of time and plan accordingly when you want to go in order to avoid crowds.
