Top Shopping Around the World – Vine Vera Reviews
We often talk about what to do and what to see when traveling to different cities around the world. We keep seeing top 10 lists for things like destinations, attractions, restaurants and nightclubs. But what about shopping? After all, the kind of sartorial enjoyment that this sinful delight has to offer is an integral part of our holidays as well. And with the London Fashion Week all set to kick off, Vine Vera thought it prudent to introduce some of the top shopping destinations around the world.
Los Angeles
There are very few walking streets in Los Angeles, but the ones that still exist are bound to offer unparalleled shopping experiences. Some of the top shopping avenues in the City of Angels include Rodeo Drive, Abbot Kinney and The Grove. And if you need your share of celeb sighting while in Los Angeles, ditch the Rodeo Drive in favor of Robertson Blvd., where brands like Lisa Kline, Kitson and Madison regularly attract starlets. For something more local, head over to the Fashion District or Fred Segal.
Bangkok
Surawong Road and Silom Road are the most popular shopping destinations in the capital of Thailand. From tailor-made clothes to cheap silk, you can find all sorts of goods being sold here. Don’t forget to drive a hard bargain while in Bangkok. Peninsula Plaza is the perfect place for those looking for upscale shopping and Sukhumvit Road is the best place to shop for leather. Don’t miss out on the experiences offered by the Chatuchak Weekend Market, where you can find silk items that would sell for 5 times their price in developed countries.
Tokyo
Tokyo is all about its department stores. Most stores treat customers like royalty and walking into one is bound to be an experience of a lifetime. Isetan is one of the best department stores to visit. The store has a Chinese, English and Korean speaking staff and it offers shopping consultants who advise customers on everything –from shoes to fish. For those wanting to check out something freaky, the seven-story M’s: Pop Life Sex Department Store is as weird and freaky as it gets.
London
With the London Fashion Week 2015 commencing tomorrow, it makes sense to figure out where to get access to the latest fashions while in London. After all, the ladies will need something to do while they’re not busy checking out fashion shows! The iconic Harrods is like Disneyland for a shopaholic. It has everything that you can possibly imagine and is almost like a world in itself. Other shopping destinations worth visiting include the Dover Street Market, Mayfair, Portobello Market, Pail Smith and Spitalfields.
New York City
New York City is popularly known as a shopping mecca that most shopaholic dreams are made of. The sheer abundance and variety of stores, malls and brands are more than enough to leave most shoppers spellbound. Some of the hottest shopping destinations in the city include Graymarket, Bird and SoHo.
Milan
Shop in Milan and you’ll return home with an edgy and trendy look that always sets you apart from the crowd. Milan is a treasure trove for the fashion lover and home to some of the greatest fashion labels on the planet. The Quadrilatero d’Oro is where most of the haute couture boutiques can be found. Don’t miss out on the Dolce & Gabbana store while in the area. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the oldest shopping malls in the world, is also high on the must-visit lists of shoppers travelling to Milan.
Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur is one of those cities that boasts of having some of the largest shopping malls in the world. It not only offers exciting local products, but also provides shoppers with a wide variety of international brands to choose from.
Paris
It is said that shops in Paris sell lifestyles instead of selling clothes. The city’s name is more than enough to conjure images of couture. Irrespective of what you expect Paris to be, this shopping paradise always offers more than you imagine. The Marais provides one of the most eclectic shopping experiences in the world while designer boutiques like APC and L’Eclaireur and shopping destinations like Au Printemps and Galeries Lafayette complete the picture.
Hong Kong
The stores in Hong Kong close for just three days every year. Hong Kong sales are year-long events and frenzied shopping is something that is omnipresent in the city. Hong Kong is bustling with designer malls and hidden boutiques. It offers a beautiful mix of traditional and modern goods and local and designer brands. Whether you visit the Times Square Mall, Shanghai Tang, The Ladies’ Market or Causeway Bay, the experience is always bound to be exciting and frantic.
Dubai
Dubai is where opulence is the basic standard when it comes to shopping. It is one of the top spots for gold jewelry, gold based products and precious stones. The city is home to some of the most extravagant and luxurious malls in the world and is full of designers from all over the world. The Dubai Mall, famous as the largest mall in the world, is a must visit. Visiting Dubai during the Dubai Fashion Week will completely transform the way you approach shopping in the future.
